Bailey-led KXIP win; Bangalore disappointed

KXIP made no changes to their playing eleven.

RCB made a couple of changes to their playing eleven – Sachin Rana and Ravi Rampaul made way for Chris Gayle and Varun Aaron.

On winning the toss, George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 44, and lost four wickets.

Although his innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, Gayle had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored 20. Eight balls into the (Shar)match, Sandeep, the player of the match, broke the 21-run stand.

Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, faced a couple of balls, scoring four. His runs came by way of a boundary. A couple of balls later, he was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by Sandeep.

Yogesh Takawale had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he didn’t get off the mark. Eight balls later, he was caught by Wriddhiman Saha. Mitchell Johnson broke the one-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Parthiv Patel had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored just a couple. Five balls later, he was caught by Saha off the bowling of Sandeep.

RCB scored 50 off seven overs (42 balls). KXIP hadn’t conceded any extras at that point.

A B de Villiers, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 17. Thirty-three balls after Parthiv Patel’s dismissal, he was caught by Glenn Maxwell. Rishi Dhawan broke the 41-run stand.

Albie Morkel, whose 14-ball innings included a six, scored 15. Twenty-four balls later, Balaji broke the 26-run stand.

Yuvraj Singh, whose 32-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 35. Seven balls later, he was caught by David Miller. Rishi broke the four-run stand.

RCB scored 100 off 16 overs (96 balls). KXIP had conceded an extra at that point.

Mitchell Starc, who faced 17 balls, scored eight. Twenty-eight balls after Yuvraj’s dismissal, Johnson broke the 23-run stand.

Aaron, who faced 15 balls, scored 11. He was unbeaten, as was Ashok Dinda, who faced five balls, scoring a couple.

KXIP eventually conceded 10 extras. RCB scored 124 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Axar, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded (Pat)eleven. He was wicketless, as was Maxwell, who bowled three overs, conceding 39.

Balaji, who bowled four overs, conceded 17. He picked up a wicket.

Johnson and Rishi bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 19, the latter conceded 14.

Sandeep bowled three overs, including a maiden. He conceded 15, picking up three scalps.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 33, and lost a couple of wickets.

Cheteshwar Pujara, whose 18-ball innings included a boundary, scored 10. Twenty-five balls into the chase, he was caught by Parthiv. Dinda broke the 22-run stand.

The wicketkeeper, who faced Saha balls, scored just a couple. Ten balls later, he was caught by Starc. Aaron broke the 11-run stand.

Maxwell, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored as many. Eight balls later, he was caught by Starc. Needless to say, Aaron was in seventh heaven.

KXIP scored 50 off eight overs (48 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Miller, whose 20-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 26. Thirty-one balls after Maxwell’s dismissal, he was caught by Parthiv. Yuzvendra Chahal broke the 45-run stand.

Virender Sehwag, whose 26-ball innings included four boundaries, scored 32. Four balls later, he was caught by Parthiv. Chahal broke the three-run stand.

KXIP scored 100 off 14.4 overs (88 balls). RCB had conceded 11 extras at that point.

Bailey, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored 16. He was unbeaten, as was Rishi, who scored 23 off 22 balls, which included three boundaries.

RCB eventually conceded a dozen extras. KXIP, who scored 127 for the loss of five wickets off 18.5 overs, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – they won by five wickets.

Albie and Yuvraj bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 13.

Starc, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 15.

Dinda, who bowled three overs, conceded 19. He picked up a wicket.
