M S-led CSK beat Hyderabad

CSK made no change to their playing eleven.

SRH (Shar)made one change to their playing eleven – Naman Ojha made way for Ishant.

On winning the toss, Shikhar Dhawan, SRH’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 37, and lost a couple of wickets.

Although his nine-ball innings included a boundary, Shikhar had no reason to be in seventh heaven – 14 balls into the match, he was caught by Mithun Manhas. Ben Hilfenhaus broke the 15-run stand.

The second-wicket pair D(av)id not get off the mark. Warner, who faced a couple of balls, did not open his account. A couple of balls later, he was trapped leg before wicket by Hilfenhaus.

SRH scored 50 off 7.4 overs (46 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave CSK no reason to be in seventh heaven.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 44 balls. While Aaron Finch’s contribution to the partnership was 21, Lokesh Rahul’s contribution to the partnership was 24. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was five.

Rahul, whose 27-ball innings included a boundary and a six, eventually scored 25. Forty-seven balls after Warner’s dismissal, he was caught by Ishwar Pandey. Dwayne Smith, the player of the match, broke the 52-run partnership.

Venugopal Rao, who faced 15 balls, scored 13. Twenty-seven balls later, he was caught by Smith. Mohit Sharma broke the 31-run stand.

SRH scored 100 off 15.2 overs (92 balls). CSK had conceded 13 extras at that point.

Aaron Finch, whose 45-ball innings included five boundaries, scored 44. Fourteen balls after Rao’s dismissal, Mohit broke the 11-run stand.

Daren Sammy, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 23. He was unbeaten, as was Karn Sharma, who scored 17. Although his innings included a couple of sixes, he had no reason to be in seventh heaven.

 CSK eventually conceded 16 extras. SRH scored 145 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.

Ravindra Jadeja and Ishwar bowled three overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 23, the latter conceded 22.

Ravichandran Ashwin, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 17.

Smith, who bowled a couple of overs, conceded 11. He picked up a wicket.

Hilfenhaus and Mohit bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 32, the latter conceded 27.

CSK’s openers put on 50 off 6.3 overs (39 balls). SRH had conceded three extras at that point. While Smith’s contribution to the partnership was 23, Brendon McCullum’s contribution to it was 24.

McCullum, whose 33-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 40. Sixty-five balls into the chase, Karn broke the 85-run partnership.

Smith’s half-century – which included four boundaries and three sixes – came off 37 balls.

CSK scored 100 off 12.2 overs (74 balls). SRH had conceded three extras at that point.

Suresh Raina, whose 10-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 14. Nineteen balls after McCullum’s dismissal, Ishant broke the 29-run stand.

Smith, whose 46-ball innings included the aforementioned number of boundaries, in addition to five sixes, eventually scored 66. Nine balls later, he was caught by Warner. Bhuvneshwar Kumar broke the 12-run stand.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, scored 13 off 14 balls, which included a boundary. He was unbeaten.

Faf du Plessis, who faced a ball, did not get off the mark. A couple of balls after Smith’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahul. Bhuvneshwar broke the one-run stand.

Jadeja, who faced nine balls, scored half-a-dozen. Sixteen balls later, Ishant broke the 11-run stand.

Manhas, who faced four balls, scored three. He was unbeaten.

SRH eventually conceded four extras. CSK, who scored 146 for the loss of five wickets off 19.3 overs, won by five wickets with three balls to spare.

Amit Mishra, who bowled 3.3 overs, conceded 27. He was wicketless, as was Dale Steyn, who bowled four overs, conceding 20.

Karn, who bowled four overs, conceded 35. He picked up a wicket.

Ishant and Bhuvneshwar bowled four overs each, picking up a couple of scalps apiece. While the former conceded 37, the latter conceded 23.
