Dhawan-led SRH beat Delhi narrowly

DD made four changes to their playing eleven – Mayank Agarwal, Ross Taylor, James Neesham, and Nathan Coulter-Nile made way for Quinton de Kock, Kevin Pietersen (who was leading the team), Laxmi Ratan Shukla, and Wayne Parnell.

SRH made one change to their playing eleven – Irfan Pathan made way for Naman Ojha.

On winning the toss, Shikhar Dhawan, SRH’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55, without the loss of a wicket.

SRH’s openers put on 50 off 5.4 overs (34 balls). DD had conceded four extras at that point. While Dhawan’s contribution to the partnership was 32, the contribution of Aaron Finch, the player of the match, to it was 17.

Dhawan, whose 22-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 33. Thirty-eight balls into the match, he was caught by Pietersen. Shahbaz Nadeem broke the 56-run partnership.

SRH scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85 balls). DD had conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they eventually conceded.

The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 48 balls. While Finch’s contribution to the partnership was 28, David Warner’s contribution to it was 22. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Finch’s half-century – which included four boundaries and a couple of sixes – came off 37 balls.

SRH scored 150 off 17.4 overs (106 balls).

The second-wicket pair put on 100 off 70 balls. While Finch’s contribution to the partnership was 60, Warner’s contribution to it was 43. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.

Warner’s half-century – which included a couple of boundaries and three sixes – came off 40 balls.

Finch, whose 53-ball innings included eight boundaries and five sixes, eventually scored 88. He was unbeaten, as was Warner, who eventually scored 58 off 45 balls, which included three boundaries and as many sixes.

SRH scored 184 for the loss of a wicket off 20 overs.

Shukla and Jean-Paul Duminy bowled a couple of wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 21, the latter conceded 19.

Jaydev Unadkat, Parnell and Mohammed Shami bowled four wicketless overs apiece. They conceded 43, 38, and 26, respectively.

Nadeem, who bowled four overs, conceded 24. He picked up the only wicket that fell.

De Kock, whose 30-ball innings included half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, eventually scored 48. Sixty-eight balls into the chase, he was caught by Finch. Karn Sharma broke the 99-run partnership.

DD scored 100 off 12.1 overs (73 balls). SRH had conceded three extras at that point.

Vijay’s half-century – which included seven boundaries and a six – came off 39 balls.

He eventually scored 52 off 40 balls. Half-a-dozen balls after de Kock’s dismissal, he was caught by Dale Steyn. Daren Sammy broke the four-run stand.

Dinesh Karthik, whose 14-ball innings included a boundary, scored 15. Twenty-seven balls later, he was caught by K L Rahul. Steyn broke the 32-run stand.

The fourth-wicket pair did not get off the mark. Pietersen, whose 17-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 16. The next ball, he was caught by Sammy off the bowling of Steyn.

DD scored 150 off 17.4 overs (107 balls). SRH had conceded five extras at that point.

Duminy, whose seven-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 20. He was unbeaten, as was Manoj Tiwary, who scored 23 off 13 balls, which included a couple of boundaries and a six.

SRH eventually conceded half-a-dozen extras. DD, who scored 180 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs, lost by four runs.

Venugopal Rao, who bowled an over, conceded nine. He was wicketless, as was Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Amit Mishra, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 40, the latter conceded 38.

Sammy, who bowled three overs, conceded 34. He picked up a wicket, as did Karn, who bowled four overs, conceding 23.

Steyn, who bowled four overs, conceded 33. He picked up a couple of scalps.
