KXIP (Shar)made changes to their playing eleven – Mandeep Singh and
Parvinder Awana made way for Manan Vohra and Shivam.
On winning the toss, George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings -which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55,
without the loss of a wicket.
SRH’s openers put on 50 off 5.2 overs (34 balls). KXIP had conceded
half-a-dozen extras at that point. While Aaron Finch’s contribution to the
partnership was 16, the contribution of Shikhar Dhawan, SRH’s skipper, to it
was 31.
Finch, whose 23-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries, eventually scored 20. Forty-nine balls into the (Shar)match, Shivam
broke the 65-run partnership.
Shikhar, whose 37-ball innings included five boundaries
and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 45. Eighteen balls later, he was
caught by Shivam. The batsman’s namesake, Rishi Dhawan, broke the 23-run stand.
SRH scored 100 off 12.5 overs (79 balls). KXIP had
conceded 11 extras at that point.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 29 balls. While Naman Ojha’s
contribution to the partnership was 33, David Warner’s contribution to the
partnership was 17. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.
SRH scored 150 off 17.2 overs (106 balls). KXIP had
conceded 11 extras at that point.
The third-wicket pair eventually put on 81. Warner, whose
23-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored
44. Forty-two balls after Shikhar’s dismissal, Vohra and Sandeep Sharma ran him
out.
Naman’s half-century – which included three boundaries and
four sixes – came off 29 balls.
He eventually scored 79 off 36 balls, which included four
boundaries and seven sixes. He was unbeaten.
Moises Henriques, who faced a ball, D(av)idn’t get off the
mark. Three balls after Warner’s dismissal, he was caught by Miller. Sandeep
broke the 14-run stand.
Irfan Pathan, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run.
Four balls later, he was caught by Miller. Rishi broke the 13-run stand.
Karn Sharma, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was
unbeaten.

conceded 15 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras

SRH scored 205 for the loss of five wickets off 20 overs.
Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.
Axar Patel and Mitchell Johnson were wicketless. While the
former conceded 40, the latter conceded 26.
Sandeep and Shivam picked up a wicket apiece. While the
former conceded 65, the latter conceded 31.
Rishi, who conceded 42, picked up a couple of scalps.

Virender Sehwag, who faced a couple of balls, scored four.
His runs came by way of a boundary. A couple of balls into the chase, he was
caught by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who broke the four-run stand.

an extra at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 21 balls. While Vohra’s
contribution to the partnership was 17, the contribution of Wriddhiman Saha,
the player of the match, to the partnership was 32. Extras’ contribution to the
partnership was a run.
Saha’s half-century – which included eight boundaries and a
couple of sixes – came off 22 balls.
He eventually scored 54 off 26 balls. Forty-one balls
after Sehwag’s dismissal, he was stumped by Naman. Karn broke the 91-run
partnership.

Miller, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, eventually
scored 24. He was unbeaten, as was Bailey, who didn’t add to the aforementioned
score. His 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and three sixes.
KXIP, who scored 211 for the loss of four wickets off 18.4
overs, lost by half-a-dozen wickets with eight balls to spare.
Irfan, who bowled a wicketless over, conceded five.
Henriques, who bowled a couple of wicketless overs,
conceded 36.
Steyn, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 51.
Bhuvneshwar, who bowled 3.4 overs, conceded 38. He picked
up a scalp, as did Karn and Mishra, who bowled four overs apiece. While the
former conceded 46, the latter conceded 32.
