Delhi lose to Virat-led RCB

RCB made three changes to their playing (Mork)eleven – Albie, Varun Aaron and Ashok Dinda made way for Sachin Rana, Muttiah Muralitharan, and Abu Nechim.

DD made one changes to their playing eleven –Laxmi Ratan Shukla made way for Murali Vijay.

On winning the toss, Kevin Pietersen, DD’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of RCB’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 34, and lost a wicket.

Chris Gayle, whose 23-ball innings included a boundary and a couple of sixes, scored 22. Thirty-three balls into the match, Rahul Shukla broke the run-a-ball stand.

The second-wicket pair put on a dozen. Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, faced 11 balls, scoring 10. Seventeen balls later, Shukla and Quinton de Kock ran him out.  

RCB scored 50 off 8.5 overs (53 balls). DD had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Patel, whose 28-ball innings included (Parth)IV boundaries, scored 29. Twenty-six balls after Kohli’s dismissal, he was caught by Dinesh Karthik. Mohammed Shami broke the 49-run stand.  

RCB scored 100 off 13.5 overs (83 balls). DD had conceded four extras at that point.

A B de Villiers, whose 17-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, scored 33. Eleven balls after Parthiv’s dismissal, Kaul broke the (Siddar)thirteen-run stand.

RCB scored 150 off 18 overs (109 balls). DD had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 28 balls. While the contribution of Yuvraj Singh, the player of the match, to the partnership was 35, Rana’s contribution to it was 14. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Yuvraj’s half-century – which included a boundary and half-a-dozen sixes – came off 24 balls.

He eventually scored 68 off 29 balls, which included the boundary, in addition to nine sixes. He was unbeaten, as was Rana, who eventually scored 15 off 14 balls, which included a boundary.

DD eventually conceded nine extras. RCB scored 186 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Imran Tahir and Jean-Paul Duminy bowled four wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 48, the latter conceded 25.

Rahul, Kaul and Shami bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. They conceded 41, 37, and 31, respectively.

Vijay, who faced three balls, scored a run. He was trapped leg be‘four’ wicket by Muralitharan, broke the two-run stand.

De Kock, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary, scored half-a-dozen. Eight balls later, Mitchell Starc broke the eight-run stand.

DD scored 50 off 6.4 overs (40 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 35 balls. While Mayank Agarwal’s contribution to the partnership was 26, Pietersen’s contribution to it was 14. Extras’ contribution to the partnership gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Agarwal, whose 25-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and as many sixes, eventually scored 31. Forty-four balls after de Kock’s dismissal, he was caught by Rana. Nechim broke the 63-run partnership.

Pietersen, whose 29-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and a six, eventually scored 33. Sixteen balls later, he was stumped by Parthiv. Yuzvendra Chahal broke the 24-run stand.

DD scored 100 off 12.4 overs (76 balls). The number of extras they had conceded at that point gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.

Karthik, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. An over after Pietersen’s dismissal, he was caught by Chahal. Muralitharan broke the five-run stand.

Jean-Paul Duminy, whose 30-ball innings included three boundaries and as many sixes, scored 48. Twenty-eight balls later, Starc broke the 45-run stand.

DD scored 150 off 18.1 overs (110 balls). RCB had conceded nine extras at that point.

The seventh-wicket pair put on 21. Kedar Jadhav, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 37. A dozen balls after Duminy’s dismissal, Parthiv ran him out.  

Rahul, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a couple. He was unbeaten, as was Shami, who faced a ball, scoring a run.

RCB eventually conceded 10 extras. DD, who scored 170 off 20 overs, had no reason to be in seventh heaven – they lost by 16 runs.

Each of the five bowlers bowled four overs apiece.

Yuvraj, who was wicketless, conceded 28.

Chahal and Nechim picked up a wicket apiece. They conceded 45 and 40, respectively.

Starc and Muralitharan picked up two scalps apiece. They conceded 26 and 25, respectively.
