Rajasthan disappointed; Dhoni-led CSK win

CSK made one change to their playing eleven – Mithun Manhas made way for Vijay Shankar.

RR (Shar)made three changes to their playing eleven – Sanju Samson, Kane Richardson, and Rahul Tewatia made way for Ankit, Dishant Yagnik, and Kevon Cooper.

(Wats)On winning the toss, Shane, RR’s skipper, chose to bat.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 42, without the loss of a wicket.

RR’s openers put on 50 off seven overs (42 balls). CSK had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point. While Ankit’s contribution to the partnership was 28, Watson’s contribution to it was 26.

Ankit, whose 27-ball innings included four boundaries and a six, eventually scored 30. Forty-seven balls into the match, he was caught by Dwayne Smith. Ravichandran Ashwin broke the 60-run partnership.

Watson’s half-century – which included three boundaries and four sixes – came off 35 balls.

The second-wicket pair put on 26. Ajinkya Rahane had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored four. Seventeen balls after Ankit’s dismissal, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, and Brendon McCullum ran him out.

Watson eventually scored 51 off 36 balls. A dozen balls later, Mohit Sharma broke the 13-run stand.

RR scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls). CSK had conceded nine extras at that point.

Karun Nair, whose (Samu)eleven-ball innings included a boundary, scored eight. Fourteen balls after Watson’s dismissal, Badree broke the 15-run stand.

Steven Smith, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary, scored nine. Fourteen balls later, Mohit broke the 19-run stand.

James Faulkner, who faced four balls, scored a run. Five balls later, Ravindra Jadeja broke the three-run stand.

Stuart Binny, whose 17-ball innings included a couple of sixes, scored 22. A couple of balls later, he was caught by Faf du Plessis. Jadeja broke the one-run stand.

Yagnik, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored four. He was unbeaten.

Although his innings included a boundary, Rajat Bhatia had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored four. Seven balls after Binny’s dismissal, he was caught by Dwayne. Mohit broke the 10-run stand.

Cooper, who didn’t get off the mark, was unbeaten.

CSK eventually conceded a dozen extras. RR scored 148 for the loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.

Shankar, who bowled an over, conceded 19. He was wicketless, as was Ishwar Pandey, who bowled three overs, conceding 18.

Ashwin and Badree bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket apiece. While the former conceded 39, the latter conceded 19.

Jadeja, who bowled four overs, conceded 18. He picked up a couple of wickets.

Mohit, who bowled four overs, conceded 31. He picked up three scalps.

The first Powerplay of CSK’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 48, and lost a couple of wickets.

McCullum, who faced three balls, scored half-a-dozen. His runs came by way of a six. Thirteen balls into the chase, he was caught by Nair. Ankit broke the 20-run stand.

Suresh Raina, who faced three balls, scored a couple. Thirteen balls later, he was caught by Bhatia. Ankit broke the 21-run stand.

CSK scored 50 off 6.3 overs (39 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

Dwayne, whose 35-ball innings included five boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 44. Thirty-four balls after Raina’s dismissal, he was caught by Yagnik. Cooper broke the 35-run stand.

CSK scored 100 off 14 overs (84 balls). RR had conceded five extras at that point.

Ashwin, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary, scored 14. Thirty-five balls after Dwayne’s dismissal, Bhatia broke the 29-run stand.

Du Plessis, whose 39-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 38. Sixteen balls later, Faulkner broke the run-a-ball stand.

Dhoni, whose 16-ball innings included a boundary and a six, scored 26. He was unbeaten, as was Jadeja, who scored 11. His six-ball innings included a six.

RR eventually conceded eight extras. CSK, who scored 149 for the loss of five wickets off 19.4 overs, won by five wickets with a couple of balls to spare.

Pravin Tambe bowled four wicketless overs, conceding 34.

Faulkner bowled 3.4 overs, conceding 37. He picked up a wicket, as did Bhatia and Cooper, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 30, the latter conceded 25.

Ankit bowled four overs, conceding 20. He picked up a couple of scalps.
