KXIP (Shar)made a couple of changes to their playing eleven
– Rishi Dhawan and Murali Kartik made way for Lakshmipathy Balaji and Twenty20
debutant Shivam.
On winning the toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to
field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory
Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 64, and lost a
wicket.
KXIP’s openers put on 50 off 5.1 overs (32 balls). RCB had conceded nine
extras at that point. While Virender Sehwag’s contribution to the partnership
was 26, Mandeep Singh’s contribution to it was 16.
Mandeep, whose 15-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, eventually
scored 21. Thirty-five balls into the match, he was caught by Albie. Harshal
Patel broke the 60-run partnership.
Sehwag, whose 24-ball innings included five boundaries, eventually
scored 24. (Cha)Half-a-dozen balls later, he was caught by Kohli. Yuzvendra
broke the eight-run stand.
Glenn Maxwell, whose 11-ball innings included a couple of boundaries and
as many sixes, scored 25. A couple of dozen balls later, he was caught by Mitchell

George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, had no reason to be in seventh heaven –
he scored just a run. Seventeen balls after Maxwell’s dismissal, he was caught
by Parthiv Patel. Albie broke the 23-run stand.
KXIP scored 150 off 15.2 overs (93 balls). RCB had conceded 13 extras at
that point.
David Miller’s half-century – which included half-a-dozen boundaries and
three sixes – came off 23 balls.
The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 26 balls. While Miller’s
contribution to the partnership was 35, Wriddhiman Saha’s contribution to it
was 13. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.
Miller, whose 29-ball innings included eight boundaries, in addition to
the aforementioned number of sixes, eventually scored 66. Twenty-nine balls
after Bailey’s dismissal, he was caught by Chahal. Aaron broke the 54-(Va)run
