On winning the toss, Kevin Pietersen,
DD’s skipper, chose to bat.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings –
which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over.
They scored 29, and lost a couple of wickets.
Quinton de Kock, whose nine-ball
innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 10. Fifteen balls into the
match, he was caught by Gambhir. Umesh Yadav broke the 14-run stand.
The second-wicket pair put on a
dozen. Pietersen, whose 12-ball (Rob)innings included a boundary, scored
half-a-dozen. Eighteen balls later, Uthappa ran him out.
DD scored 50 off eight overs (48
balls). KKR had conceded three extras at that point.
Murali Vijay, whose 20-ball innings
included a couple of boundaries and a six, scored 24. Twenty-one balls after
Pietersen’s dismissal, he was caught by Sunil Narine. Kallis broke the 35-run
partnership.
Dinesh Karthik, whose 22-ball innings
included four boundaries and a six, scored 36. Seventeen balls later, he was
caught by Kallis. Shakib Al Hasan broke the 24-run stand.
DD scored 100 off 14.1 overs (85
balls). KKR had conceded four extras at that point.
Laxmi Ratan Shukla, whose 14-ball
innings included a boundary, scored 10. Twenty-four balls after Karthik’s
dismissal, Narine broke the 20-run stand.

balls). KKR had conceded eight extras at that point. That was, incidentally,
the number of extras they eventually conceded.
The sixth-wicket pair put on 50 off
25 balls. While Jean-Paul Duminy’s contribution to the partnership was 26,
Kedar Jadhav’s contribution to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the
partnership was four.
Duminy, whose 28-ball innings
included three sixes, eventually scored 40. He was unbeaten, as was Jadhav, who
eventually scored 26 off 15 balls, which included three boundaries and a six.
DD scored 160 for the loss of five
wickets off 20 overs.
Suryakumar Yadav, who bowled a
wicketless over, conceded eight. He was wicketless, as was Vinay Kumar, who
bowled three overs, conceding 31.
Kallis, Narine, Umesh, and Shakib
bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. They conceded 38, 38, 26,
and 13, respectively.

into the chase, he was trapped leg before wicket by Wayne Parnell, who broke
the 106-run partnership.
Gambhir’s half-century – which
included four boundaries and a six – came off 39 balls.
KKR scored 150 off 16.5 overs (101
balls).
Gambhir, whose 56-run innings
included five boundaries and a couple of sixes, eventually scored 69.
Thirty-three balls after Uthappa’s dismissal, he was caught by Karthik. Parnell
broke the 45-run stand.
Manish Pandey, whose 14-ball innings
included a couple of boundaries, scored 23. He was unbeaten.
Kallis, whose six-ball innings

KKR, who scored 161 for the loss of a
couple of wickets off 18.2 overs, lost by eight wickets with 10 balls to spare.
Duminy and Shukla bowled a couple of
wicketless overs apiece. While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 19.
Kaul, who bowled three wicketless
overs, conceded 29.
Shahbaz Nadeem, who bowled 3.2
wicketless overs, conceded 34.
Mohammed Shami, who bowled four wicketless
overs, conceded 23.
Parnell, who bowled four overs,
conceded 21. He picked up both the wickets that fell.
