changes to their playing eleven – Rishi Dhawan made way for Sandeep.
On winning the
toss, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, CSK’s skipper, chose to field.
The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They
scored 70, without the loss of a wicket.
KXIP’s openers put on 50 off 4.2 overs (26 balls). CSK had
conceded a couple of extras at that point. While the contribution of Virender
Sehwag, the player of the match, to the partnership was 26, Manan Vohra’s contribution
to it was 23.
Sehwag’s half-century – which included seven boundaries
and a couple of sixes – came off 21 balls.
KXIP’s openers put on 100 off 9.1 overs (55 balls). CSK had
conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point. While Sehwag’s contribution to the
partnership was 63, Vohra’s contribution to it was 33.
Vohra, whose 31-ball innings included a boundary and a
couple of sixes, eventually scored 34. Sixty-four balls into the match, he was
caught by Suresh Raina. Ishwar Pandey broke the 110-run partnership.
Glenn Maxwell, whose six-ball innings included a boundary and
a six, scored 13. Fourteen balls later, he was caught by Raina. Ravichandran
Ashwin broke the 38-run stand.
KXIP scored 150 off 13.2 overs (80 balls). CSK had
conceded 10 extras at that point.
Sehwag’s ton – which included 10 boundaries and half-a-dozen

Sehwag, whose 58-ball innings included a dozen boundaries
and eight sixes, eventually scored 122. Thirty-two balls after Maxwell’s
dismissal, he was caught by Faf du Plessis. Ashish Nehra broke the 63-run
partnership.
George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, faced a couple of balls, scoring
a run. Five balls later, Nehra had a reason to be in seventh heaven.
The fifth-wicket pair had no reason to be in seventh heaven.
David Miller, whose (Dho)nineteen-ball innings included five boundaries and a
six, scored 38. Three balls later, the man from Ranchi ran him out.
Wriddhiman, who faced four balls, scored Saha. His
runs came way of a six. Three balls later, he was caught by Dwayne Smith. Mohit
Sharma broke the one-run stand.
Mitchell Johnson, who faced a ball, scored a run. He was
unbeaten.
KXIP scored 226 for the loss of half-a-dozen wickets off

Ravindra Jadeja, who was wicketless, conceded 48.
Mohit, Ashwin, and Ishwar picked up a wicket apiece. They

Sandeep, who bowled three overs, conceded 32. He picked up
a wicket, as did Johnson and Axar, who bowled four overs apiece. While the
former conceded 44, the latter conceded 23.
Awana, who bowled four overs, conceded 59. He picked up a
couple of scalps.
