KKR made a couple of Cha(wla)nges to their playing (Mork)eleven – Piyush and Pat Cummins made way for Vinay Kumar and Morne.
RCB made a couple
of changes to their playing (Pat)eleven – Parthiv and Varun Aaron made way for
Yogesh Takawale and Ashok Dinda.
On winning the
toss, Virat Kohli, RCB’s skipper, chose to field.
The first
Powerplay of KKR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between
the first and the sixth over. They scored 45, and lost a couple of
wickets.
Gautam Gambhir,
KKR’s skipper, faced four balls, scoring as many. His runs came by way of a
boundary. Five balls into the match, he was caught by Takawale. Mitchell Starc
broke the run-a-ball stand.
Manish Pandey,
whose 12-ball innings included three boundaries, scored 13. Seventeen balls
later, he was caught by Starc. Dinda broke the 18-run stand.
KKR scored 50 off
6.2 overs (38 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.
The third-wicket
pair put on 33. Yusuf Pathan, whose 13-ball innings included a boundary and a
couple of sixes, scored 22. Twenty balls after Manish’s dismissal, Kohli and
Takawale ran him out.
KKR scored 100
off 11.4 overs (70 balls). RCB had conceded three extras at that point.
The fourth-wicket
pair put on 50 off 34 balls. While the contribution of Robin, the player of the
match, to the (Uthap)partnership was 35, Shakib Al Hasan’s contribution to it
was 15. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.
Uthappa’s
half-century – which included five boundaries and a six – came off 34 balls.
KKR scored 150

The fourth-wicket

Shakib’s

Uthappa, whose

scored 83. He was unbeaten, as was Ryan ten Doeschate, who faced three balls,
scoring half-a-dozen. His runs came by way of a six.
The number of
extras they eventually conceded gave RCB no reason to be in seventh heaven.
KKR scored 195
for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.
Yuvraj Singh and
Muttiah Muralitharan bowled two overs apiece. While the former conceded 21, the
latter conceded 19. They were wicketless, as was Yuzvendra Chahal, who bowled
four overs, conceding 50.
Dinda, Nechim,
and Starc bowled four overs each, picking up a scalp apiece. They conceded 38,
33, and 32, respectively.
