DD made four changes to their playing eleven – Ross Taylor, Shahbaz Nadeem, Rahul Shukla, and Siddarth Kaul made way for Murali Vijay, Wayne Parnell, Mohammed Shami, and Jaydev Unadkat.
KXIP made one change to their playing eleven – Mitchell
Johnson made way for Beuran Hendricks.
On winning the toss, George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, chose
to field.
The first Powerplay of DD’s innings – which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 55,
and lost a wicket.
Vijay, whose eight-ball innings included a boundary,
scored five. Fifteen balls into the (Shar)match, he was caught by Hendricks.
Sandeep broke the 13-run stand.
DD scored 50 off 5.1 overs (31 balls). KXIP had conceded four
extras at that point.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 27 balls. While the contribution
of Kevin Pietersen, DD’s skipper, to the partnership was 35, Dinesh Karthik’s
contribution to it was 15. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.
Pietersen, whose 32-ball (Kev)innings included
half-a-dozen boundaries and a six, eventually scored 49. Forty-eight balls
after Vijay’s dismissal, Axar Patel, the player of the match, broke the 71-run
partnership.
DD scored 100 off 13.1 overs (79 balls). KXIP had conceded
four extras at that point.
Karthik’s half-century – which included five boundaries
and a couple of sixes – came off 35 balls.
The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 33 balls. While Karthik’s
contribution to the partnership was 35, Jean-Paul Duminy’s contribution to it
was 15. Extras didn’t contribute to the partnership.

Kedar Jadhav, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. A
couple of balls later, he was caught by Maxwell. Sandeep broke the four-run
stand.
DD scored 150 off 17.4 overs (106 balls). KXIP had
conceded five extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of
extras they eventually conceded.
Mayank Agarwal, who faced a couple of balls, scored
half-a-dozen. His runs came by way of a six. Four balls after Jadhav’s
dismissal, Sandeep was in seventh heaven.
Manoj Tiwary, whose eight-ball innings included a
boundary, was unbea‘ten’.
Karthik, whose 44-ball innings included seven boundaries
and three sixes, eventually scored 69. A couple of balls later, he was caught
by Rishi Dhawan. Hendricks broke the four-run stand.

stand.

mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 66,
without the loss of a wicket.
KXIP’s openers put on 50 off 4.5 overs (29 balls). The number
of extras they had conceded at that point gave DD no reason to be in seventh
heaven. While Virender Sehwag’s contribution to the partnership was 14, Manan
Vohra’s contribution to it was 33.
Vohra, whose 19-ball innings included four boundaries and
three sixes, eventually scored 42. Thirty-eight balls into the chase, he was
caught by Vijay. Imran Tahir broke the 67-run partnership.

boundaries and a six, eventually scored 23. Nine balls later, he was caught by
Tiwary. Duminy broke the 17-run stand.
Maxwell, whose 11-ball innings included a six, scored 14. Tahir
had a reason to be in seventh heaven – he broke the eight-run stand.
David Miller, who faced half-a-dozen balls, scored a
couple. Five balls later, Duminy broke the two-run stand.
KXIP scored 100 off 11 overs (66 balls). DD had conceded a
dozen extras at that point.
Wriddhiman Saha, whose run-a-ball innings included a
boundary, scored 13. Thirty-one balls after Miller’s dismissal, he was caught
by Parnell. Shami broke the 33-run stand.
KXIP scored 150 off 17.5 overs (107 balls). DD had
conceded 15 extras at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras
they eventually conceded.
Axar, whose 35-ball innings included five boundaries and a
six, eventually scored 42. He was unbeaten.
Bailey had no reason to be in seventh heaven – he scored half-a-dozen.

the 28-run stand.

eight. He was unbeaten.
