SRH made one changes to their playing eleven – Moises Henriques made way for Daren Sammy, who chose to bat on winning the toss.
KKR made no changes to their playing eleven.
The first Powerplay of SRH’s innings -which was the
mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over. They scored 41,
and lost a couple of wickets.
Aaron Finch, whose run-a-ball innings included a boundary,
scored a boundary. Nine balls into the match, he was caught by Morne Morkel.
Umesh Yadav, the player of the match, broke the 14-run stand.
Shikhar Dhawan, whose 14-ball innings included four
boundaries, scored N(ar)ineteen. Twenty-five balls later, he was caught by
Gautam Gambhir, KKR’s skipper. Sunil broke the 27-run stand.
SRH scored 50 off 6.5 overs (41 balls). KKR had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
Naman Ojha, whose 24-ball innings included a boundary and
a couple of sixes, scored 22. Seventeen balls after Shikhar’s dismissal, he was
caught by Yusuf Pathan. Shakib Al Hasan broke the 23-run stand.
Lokesh Rahul, whose 18-ball innings included three
boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 14. Twenty-five balls (Chaw)later, he
was trapped leg before wicket by Piyush, who broke the 34-run stand.
SRH scored 100 off 13 overs (78 balls). KKR had conceded half-a-dozen
extras at that point.
David Warner, whose 18-ball innings included three
boundaries and a couple of sixes, scored 34. Four balls after Rahul’s
dismissal, he was caught by Yusuf. Umesh broke the six-run stand.
Irfan Pathan, whose 19-ball innings included a couple of boundaries,
scored 23. He was unbeaten.
Sammy, who faced 16 balls, had no reason to be in seventh
heaven – 29 balls after Warner’s dismissal, he was caught by Manish. Shakib
broke the 25-run stand.
The seventh-wicket pair put on 10. Karn, who faced four
balls, scored aS(har)many. Eight balls later, Yusuf ran him out.
Dale Steyn, who faced a couple of balls, scored a run. Three
balls later, Umesh broke the run-a-ball stand.
KKR eventually conceded 10 extras. SRH scored 142 for the
loss of eight wickets off 20 overs.
Ryan ten Doeschate, who bowled an over, conceded eight. He
was wicketless, as was Morne, who bowled dour overs, conceding 39.
Chawla and Narine bowled four overs each, picking up a
wicket apiece. While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 21.
Shakib, who bowled three overs, conceded 22. He picked up
a couple of wickets.
Umesh, who bowled four overs, conceded 26. He picked up
three scalps.

without the loss of a wicket.
KKR scored 50 off 8.4 overs (52 balls). SRH had conceded
an extra at that point. That was, incidentally, the number of extras they
eventually conceded.
Gambhir, whose 10-all innings included a boundary, scored
half-a-dozen. A couple of overs into the chase, he was caught by Naman. Steyn
broke the eight-run stand.
The second-wicket pair put on 50 off 45 balls. While Robin’s
contribution to the (Uthap)partnership was 38, Manish Pandey’s contribution to it
was a dozen. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a run.
The second-wicket pair eventually put on 51. Uthappa,
whose 33-ball innings included half—a-dozen balls and a six, eventually scored
40. Forty-seven balls after Gambhir’s dismissal, Ojha and Sammy ran him out.
KKR scored 100 off 14.3 overs (87 balls).
Manish, whose 32-ball innings included three boundaries
and a six, eventually scored 35. Thirty-three balls after Uthappa’s dismissal,
he was caught by Finch. Karn broke the 45-run stand.
Yusuf, whose 28-ball innings included a couple of
boundaries and as many sixes, scored 39. He was unbeaten, as was ten Doeschate,
who scored 25 off 15 balls, which included a couple of boundaries and a six.
KKR scored 146 for the loss of three wickets off 19.4
overs, had a reason to be in seventh heaven – they won with a couple of balls
to spare.
Sammy, who bowled an over, had no reason to be in seventh heaven
– he was wicketless.
Irfan, who bowled three wicketless overs, conceded 20.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who bowled 3.4 wicketless overs, conceded
37.
Amit Mishra, who bowled four wicketless overs, conceded 38.
Steyn and Karn bowled four overs each, picking up a wicket
apiece. While the former conceded 24, the latter conceded 19.
