Rajasthan disappointed; Bailey-led KXIP win

KXIP made three changes to their playing eleven – Glenn Maxwell and the Sharmas (Shivam and Sandeep) made way for David Miller, Karanveer Singh, and Lakshmipathy Balaji.

RR (Shar)made four changes to their playing eleven – Unmukt Chand, Ankit, Rajat Bhatia, and Dhawal Kulkarni made way for Ajinkya Rahane, Rahul Tewatia, Vikramjeet Malik, and Pravin Tambe.

(Wats)On winning the toss, Shane, RR’s skipper, chose to field.

The first Powerplay of KXIP’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over.  They scored 53, and lost a wicket.

Virender Sehwag, whose eight-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 18. Fourteen balls into the match, he was caught by Malik. James Faulkner broke the 24-run stand.

KXIP scored 50 off 5.2 overs (32 balls). RR had conceded a couple of extras at that point.

The second-wicket pair put on 30. Manan Vohra, whose 20-ball innings included three boundaries and a six, scored 25. Twenty-five balls after Sehwag’s dismissal, Stuart Binny ran him out.

KXIP scored 100 off 11.4 overs (70 balls). RR had conceded five extras at that point.

The third-wicket pair put on 50 off 34 balls. While the contribution of Shaun Marsh, the player of the match, to the partnership was 30, Wriddhiman Saha’s contribution to it was 17. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was three.

Marsh, whose 35-ball innings included five boundaries and a six, eventually scored 40. Forty balls after Vohra’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahane. Malik broke the 59-run partnership.

It was at that point that there was an interruption due to rain. KXIP had scored 113 for the loss of three wickets at that point. Saha was batting on 25.

He eventually scored 27 off 20 balls, which included four boundaries. Nine balls after Marsh’s dismissal, he was caught by Rahane. Tewatia broke the Saha-run stand.

KXIP scored 150 off 18.1 overs (109 balls). RR had conceded half-a-dozen extras at that point.

The fifth-wicket pair put on 50 off 27 balls. While Miller’s contribution to the partnership was 23, the contribution of George Bailey, KXIP’s skipper, to it was 25. Extras’ contribution to the partnership was a couple.

Miller, whose 20-ball innings included a couple of sixes, eventually scored 29. He was unbeaten, as was Bailey, who eventually scored 26 off 18 balls, which included a boundary and a six.

RR eventually conceded 14 extras. KXIP scored 179 for the loss of four wickets off 20 overs.

Watson bowled a couple of overs, conceding 16. He was wicketless, as were Tambe and Kevon Cooper, who bowled four overs apiece. While the former conceded 36, the latter conceded 25.

Faulkner and Malik bowled three overs each, conceding 39 and 29, respectively. They picked up a scalp apiece, as did Tewatia, who bowled four overs, conceding 24.

The first Powerplay of RR’s innings – which was the mandatory Powerplay – was between the first and the sixth over.  They scored 44, and lost a wicket.

Rahane, whose 26-ball innings included a couple of boundaries, scored 23. Thirty-three balls after Nair’s dismissal, Rishi Dhawan broke the 35-run stand.

The third-wicket pair didn’t get off the mark. Watson, who faced a ball, didn’t get off the mark. The next ball, he was dismissed by Dhawan.

Binny, who faced 10 balls, had no reason to be in seventh heaven. Seventeen balls later, he was caught by Marsh. Karanveer broke the 14-run stand.
